Meeting for Worship with the Attention to Business

1st Month of 2006

Present: Florence Tucker, Bill Reynolds, Doug Dwyer, Larry Ingle, Sharon Dwyer, Janine Bruton, Craig Davoulas, Jim Bowman, Becky Ingle, and Chuck Jones (clerk).

Meeting opened with a period of worship, during which the clerk read Alison Krause lyrics:

“In this world, I walk alone, with no place to call my home; but there’s one who holds my hand, on the rugged road, through barren lands.  The way is dark, the road is steep but He’s become my eyes to see, strength to climb, my griefs to bare, the Savior lives inside me there.

In your love, I find release, a haven from my unbelief.  Take my life and let me be, a living prayer, my God, to thee.

In these trials of life, I find another voice inside my mind. He comforts me and bids me live inside the love the Father gives.

In your love I find release, a haven from my unbelief. Take my life and let me be, a living prayer, my God, to thee.  Take my life and let me be, a living prayer, my God, to thee.”

Religious Education:  Since the First Day School had lost their TV and VCR (and videos) in the burglaries last year, they decided to make and sell wreaths and candle arrangements.  They raised $101.00. What they did not know was that Lorraine Larson and Tom Zavala had donated the TV and VCR.  So the money will go into videos and/or a DVD player. The videos are on First Day School/ Religious Ed topics. Congratulations to the First Day Schoolers on the money they raised and Many Thanks to tom and Lorraine.

Property Oversight:  The committee wants to enlist options as to what we should do about the driveway.  It is in ill-repair and they decided that if they were to consider repairing it, then perhaps there might be some other ideas as to what might be done with it or in addition to it and the parking area.  Friends should contact either Becky Ingle or Craig Davoulas with their ideas by February 12th.  The Treasurer has included $5000 for the drive way.

Treasury Report:  The monthly meeting treasury report was presented and received.  It is as shown.

Annual Financial Budget Report:  The proposal was received by the meeting last month. Discussion centered around charitable giving.  Corrections were as follows:

Charitable Giving totaled $900.00 with Local Assistance being $200 of the total, and Quaker House being $100 of the total (not Friendly Voice)

Friendly Voice was returned to a line item.

Supplies were reinstated in the proposal at $180.00, and

A line item was created for the Peace Committee at $100.00.

These changes brought the total disbursements to $16,364.00.

While there is enough in the budget to cover the driveway’s $5000 need, the treasurer indicated that there is that amount in the building fund should contributions not cover the expense.

The budget was approved with the above corrections.  The budget is included in this report later on.

FCNL:  FCNL Mailing List.doc  An email to Becky from Sue indicated a desire from FCNL for us to send them our mailing directory with those not wishing to receive 3 free copies of their newsletter to be indicated as such.  The clerk proposed that we send them the names and addresses of only those friends who desired 3 free FCNL newsletters.  Meeting approved.  Therefore, if you wish to receive three free copies of the FCNL newsletter, you should contact Becky Ingle, our FCNL contact.  She will email FCN: and let them know of our decision.  Please contact her by the 12th of February.  Below is a copy of the email Becky received from Sue.

Hi Becky,

Would you please present this to meeting for business as I most likely will not be there:  Berry from FCNL called and requested that if meeting agrees, to send FCNL our meeting's mailing list. They want to send any one who does not presently receive FCNL newsletter three issues at no cost. She suggested that we tell people who want to "opt out" of the offer to request that their names not be included. If list is sent, direct it to imyberry at cnl dot org    or call her at 800-634-1330 extension 2504.

                              Thank You!.

Sue Reynolds

Peace and Social Concerns:  The Peace Committee, composed of Doug Dwyers, Janine Bruton, and Jere L,, will facilitate the 2nd Hour discussion on Friends desires on the direction the committee should go.

The committee will be meeting during Pot Luck.

Other Business:  Florence brought to our attention that the 10th is Caty MacAfee’s birthday.  Chuck pointed out that his was Friday the 13th, and Doug remarked that Sharon’s would be on the 29th of this month.

It was commented that we need a calendar on which to see Friends’ birthdays.  Becky said she hung a calendar on the door into the dining room today and we could write them down on the calendar.  Friends liked that idea. Doug said he’d sent Jim Bowman a copy of all the birthdays he had while the newsletter editor.  We still need them posted and birthdays of newer attendees added.

Meeting closed with a period of worship.
